According to international news reports, lawsuits are already being filed against the government of China arguing negligence or mishandling of the coronavirus epidemic. In the opinion of experts, by delaying its reporting of the epidemic the Chinese government was in breach of  the International Health Regulations (IHR). They also claim that the pandemic poses a threat to global security and that this negligence on the part of the government is a violation of United Nations Charter.

Nevertheless, the likelihood that these lawsuits will be considered admissible and succeed under international law is slim.
